Simple Do's & Don'ts
for Pond Keepers
First and Most important. ENJOY YOUR POND

Test your pond water every 1-2 weeks for pH level, ammonia, etc.

Keep your pumps running 24/7.
In the wintertime bring the pump or water intake to 6 - 12 inches below the water surface.

Add extra aeration., this is good for water quality, good for fish health especially in the summer. Beneficial bacteria for better water quality also work better with additional aeration

When using products in your pond PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Keep ahead of the problem, control the problem, don't wait for the problem.

DO NOT OVERFEED YOUR FISH feed above 55 degrees only. Do Not Feed in the wintertime. Fish usually feed from April to September.
In spring - First feedings for 1 - 2 weeks use plain cheerios.

Use a good quality fish food. No junk food or corn based foods.

Fertilize your water plants monthly during the season. Every 2 weeks when the water temperature is above 75 degrees. Make sure you use an aquatic fertilizer

When adding water to your pond, always use a chlorine & Chloramines remover. It will take only once to lose all your fish. Bacteria's are also killed by chlorine & Chloramines.

Remove floating algae, dead leaves, debris, mud from tipped over pots, etc. Therefore cutting down on nutrients causing more algae & green water.

Clean filters with pond water, DO NOT USE THE HOSE Chlorine kills your filter's bacteria.
The bigger the filter system the better
When treating with Beneficial Bacteria's TURN OFF your UV for 24 hours
